Rental car company Hertz announced this week that they are buying 100,000 electric vehicles, which made Tesla’s stock soar and Elon Musk’s net worth go up by $25.6 billion since Friday’s market close.
Forbes is now estimating Musk’s net worth to be around $255.2 billion, making him the richest person in history. The publication points out that Musk holds a 21% stake in Tesla, which rose by 12.6% in one day, with shares closing at $1,024.86 apiece on Monday (October 25). Tesla’s market capitalization exceeded $1 trillion for the first time as well on Monday.
Back in September, Musk surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as the richest man in the world. In his response, Musk told Forbes, “I’m sending a giant statue of the digit ‘2’ to Jeffrey B., along with a silver medal.”
